The town of Wayland is situated approximately 15 miles west of Boston. This small town has earned top recognition in many categories. Conservation Land and Recreation Land are important to the Town of Wayland. Cochituate State Park (owned by the Division of State Parks and Recreation) features hiking trails and a town beach on Lake Cochituate. This cherished jewel offers fresh water swimming, boating, and fishing. There are boat rentals available. Dudley Pond is another area to enjoy swimming and boating and there are family activities such as the annual music on the pond performance. There are 19 major Conservation Area with trails for hiking and other passive recreation. In addition, the Wayland Community Gardens provide a communal space for residents and nonresidents to grow a variety of fruit, vegetables, and flowers.
Schools in Wayland are ranked highly in the state on the elementary school level and the *high school level. Loker School, Happy Hollow, and Claypit Hill were ranked in the top 100 elementary schools in Massachusetts.
The Wayland Town Center features a combination of restaurants, stores, fitness center, golf center, art gallery, supermarket, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. There are additional restaurants, boutique clothing store, and spa in Wayland.
